Crommett Overlook Hike

By Linda Trueworthy

Blue skies and lots of sun brought a record number of CVOA members and guests out for a morning hike to the Crommett Overlook.

For many, this was the first time they had been on a hike to the Overlook.  The group gathered at the Campbell Field parking lot and as they were crossing the bridge over the Carrabassett River, a group photo was taken of the 28 hikers.

Luscious, the golden Lab of one of the couples on the hike, kept us company as well.

Walking along the trail and enjoying the foliage gave members and guests a chance to meet on another and do some socializing.

At the trailhead, we were met by 3 bikers who parked their bikes and joined the hikers on the final ascent to the Overlook.

When we arrived at the Overlook, the hikers were in awe of the gorgeous view of Sugarloaf, Burnt Mountain and the Croker Cirque as well as all the foliage in the Valley.

After taking a little break and taking lots and lots of photos, the group descended the trail through a yellow canopy of foliage to the Narrow Gauge Trail.  They then continued on to the parking lot in time to arrive at the Range for a delicious BBQ and Range activities.
