CVOA SKIS SADDLEBACK

Soft powder, stunning vistas and new terrain greeted 20 CVOA skiers who trekked over to Saddleback Christmas week to ski our sister mountain.

The group gathered in the base lodge early to gear up, drink coffee and swap stories about the moose sightings along “Moose Alley” .. Route 16 between Stratton and Rangeley.

Although the mountain was completely socked in for the first few runs, the skies cleared and the sun shone brightly by mid-morning, offering spectacular views of the Rangeley Lakes Region.

“Wow” was the word used most to describe the views by members of the Carrabassett Valley Outdoor Association.

Saddleback offers group discount tickets every day for just $25 if a group has 20 or more skiers. CVOA took advantage of the offer during the holiday week, when many of its members who hold season passes to Sugarloaf were “blacked out.”

It was the second trip to Saddleback for the group … and the response was enthusiastic enough to make it an annual outing.

Skiers included Paul & Linda Trueworthy, Peg & Glen Bickford,  Sandy & Jim Osterider, Marcel Poulin, John McCatherin, Nancy Perry, John Morey, Tom Anderle and family.
