Distant Journeys, a local Maine company, is leading a journey on foot through Scotland September 14 – 25, 2011 .. and offering us a deal on the adventure!

Pam Twaddle, trip coordinator and a member of CVOA, is offering members a 5 percent discount on the normal price of the trip.

The excursion offers the oppotunity to walk and hike through some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery.

This 95 mile long-distance route, the West Highland Way, begins just outside Glasgow and ends in Fort William, at the foot of Ben Nevis.

Following the “Bonney banks” of Loch Lomond, Scotland’s largest inland body of water,  we include a day to climb Ben Lomond, one of the famous Munro’s.

The West Highland Way offers a variety of landscapes to experience; including moorland and heath, river valley and farmland, mountains and woodlands.

Staying at old inns, small hotels, and B&B’s, we’ll set off each day after a hearty Scottish breakfast to our next destination, either picnicking along the way or enjoying the hospitality of local pubs and restaurants.
