BAXTER WEEKEND SET

CVOA is heading back to Trout Brook July 30-Aug. 1 for its annual weekend in Baxter State Park.

By popular demand, we've reserved the spacious group tent site on the banks of Mattagammon Lake for the second year in a row.

There are still sites available so .. if you have not already reserved a tent space .. please do so ASAP so you can join the fun for this wonderful weekend of hiking, canoeing, fishing and socializing. To RSVP .. write to Rick (rickchen64@yahoo.com) or Nancy (nperry24420@roadrunner.com).

We'll be arriving Friday afternoon and setting up camp. This year we'll be offering a Substantial Salads night on Friday, featuring Rick Chenard's famous lobster salad, a chicken salad platter, antipasto and a fruit salad. Please bring an appetizer, some good bread or rolls, a dessert or another main dish to share with the group.

We'll have paper plates and plastic silverware on hand but .. if you have re-usable camp utensils .. please bring them to conserve resources.

Saturday night, CVOA will host it's traditional Chicken BBQ with boneless chicken, corn on the cob, salad and dessert. The cost of the meal is included in the $20 camping fee.

Campers should bring their own breakfast and lunch food and beverages, including plenty of water.

Nearby hiking trails include the Travellers, Black Cat, Horse Mountain, Five Ponds and others. There's canoeing on the lake.

There are no organized hikes or canoe outings planned .. but find a friend over dinner or happy hour Friday night and make some plans.

We'll be back in touch later with details of the outing and a gate pass.

Please have a check made out to CVOA to give to Pete Weston, our treasurer... or, better yet .. mail it to him now!

And please let Nancy know what you plan to bring to the Saturday pot luck.

See you there!
