BAR HARBOR ADVENTURE .. STILL ROOM TO JOIN US IN OUR NEW DIGS

The fall colors may be fading here .. but foliage season is just now starting in Bar Harbor. It should be spectacular for annual outing to one of our favorite spots.

CVOA will be heading back to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park this October 21-23 but .. for the first time in many years .. we will not be headquartered at the Cadillac Motor Inn.

The Cadillac has gone out of business. BUT .. we've made arrangements with a new motel just down the block and the outing will go on!

This year, we'll be staying at the Cromwell Harbor House (http://www.cromwellharbor.com), which is offering us reduced off-season rates for the weekend of Oct. 21-23. Check it out!

Although we usually go to Bar Harbor one week earlier, we decided that the lower rates .. and the one-week break between the outing and Homecoming .. held some appeal.

Cromwell will allow us the use of a grassy backyard for our Saturday pot luck dinner and pit party.

The property is across the street from The Cadillac, at the other end of the park, about one block further from town .. but still very convenient.

There are still rooms left so .. book now. Make sure you mention you’re with CVOA.

As usual, Friday night will be “on your own” with dinner in town at any of the great restaurants. Check in with Bill Haefele .. Mr. Bar Harbor .. for suggestions on where to eat, hike, bike or other activities (207-266-7588).

Saturday, find a friend and plan to hike or bike the Park Loop Road or any of the wonderful Carriage Roads in Acadia. Or just drive through the park and enjoy the scenery!

Saturday night we’ll be gathering for happy hour and a fabulous “Souper Supper” dinner featuring a variety of hot soups, stews and chowders, breads, appetizers and desserts. PLEASE let Nancy know what you’ll be bringing so we have plenty of everything (nperry24420@roadrunner.com).

We have picnic tables and our new “Easy Up” shelters to shield us if rain dares to make an appearance! CVOA will supply paper products. So just bring food!

If you are interested in joining CVOA for the Acadia getaway please make reservations direct with the Cromwell Harbor House (1-800-544-3201).

REMEMBER: Mention CVOA when you are making the reservation.

You will still pay the fee .. but get back your deposit.
