In its first such ceremony, Boy Scout Troop #525 sponsored by CVOA will
confer on two of its members scouting’s highest honor August 30.
Christian
and Patrick Beauregard of Wyman will be awarded their Eagle medals at a
ceremony scheduled for 3 p.m. that Sundayat the Carrabassett Valley Outdoor
Center. CVOA members are invited to
attend the ceremony and pot luck dinner to help honor the two young men.
Christian
and Patrick are the twin sons of Ragan and Jeff Beauregard and all are members
of CVOA. Their mother is the Scoutmaster
of the troop and their father is a member of the troop committee.
The
16-year-old students at Carrabassett Valley Academy completed their Eagle
requirements this spring and completed their board of review June 24.
For his public service
project, an Eagle requirement, Christian planned, coordinated and oversaw the
construction of the new pistol range at the CVOA shooting range on Rt. 27. He worked with a number of CVOA members,
fellow scouts and other volunteers to clear the range area, pour a concrete
slab and construct a covered firing line for pistol use.
Patrick’s Eagle project
involved the construction of a new dugout at the Stratton Little League
Field. As his brother did, Patrick
planned, coordinated and oversaw the project which also involved the pouring of
a slab and construction of the dugout itself.
Both boys involved a
number of volunteers from area communities and sought and received significant
contributions of materials and services.
CVOA became the sponsor
of Troop #525 over a year ago and a number of the association’s members are involved with it. In addition to Jeff Beauregard, CVOA members
who serve on the committee are CVOA President Peter Weston, an Eagle scout, and
Jim Wilson. John McCatherin is chairman
of the troop committee.
Anyone interested in
attending the August 30 ceremony should please respond to McCatherin at johnmccatherin@tds.net, or at
