CVOA ON FACEBOOK

New Way for Outdoor Club Members to Communicate

We're on Facebook! The Carrabassett Valley Outdoor Association has joined one of the hottest social networks of the day, taking its place beside such Facebook notables as Sugarloaf, The Carrabassett Valley Library, Maine Huts and Trails and even Deering Ice Cream --- not to mention half your friends and families.

Facebook started as a way for individuals to connect with each other and share information. It has grown to include groups, businesses and non-profit organizations like us.

Now, we're part of it.

The CVOA Facebook page includes a "wall" where you can post comments to share with other members of our group. It has a discussion board where you can post topics to talk about --- and comment on other's topics. It has an events calendar .. and an RSVP feature .. so you won't miss any upcoming outings. It has a photo album so you can share your favorite pictures.

Unlike the blog, anyone can post information, comments and photos on the CVOA blog --- as long as they are a member of Facebook.

Ah, there's the catch! Well, not really.

It's easy to join Facebook. You don't have to fill out a lengthy profile or post a photo. To register, you need only give your name, hometown and birthdate (to make sure you're over 13). That's it!

Once you're a member, go to the Facebook home page and type "Carrabassett Valley Outdoor Association" into the search engine. You'll be directed to our page. Click on "fan" and you'll become a fan of CVOA --- and the recipient of all the news, photos, gossip and activities that get posted on a daily basis.

It's easy. It's free. It's fun.
