TROUT BEWARE

New DVD Unveils Secrets of Small Stream Fly Casting

Trout can't hide from Joe Loughran.

And he's wiling to show you where to look.

Joe, a certified fly fishing instructor and loyal CVOA supporter, has produced a new video revealing some of his secrets for catching trout.

"You can learn how to even the odds, catch more trout and have a lot more fun," says Joe, who has offered three free fly fishing lessons to CVOA members over the past few years.

The video is $19.95 and Joe has generously offered to donate 25 percent of the money from the sale of every video sold to CVOA members between now and July 15, 2010. So you can improve your skills .. and help out your favorite outdoor club.

"Trout do not choose their favorite hides to accomodate our casting skills," says Joe. "That's why little trout get to be big trout."

Joe's video, which was filmed in high definition and edited by his son Chris, an independent film maker from Boston, teaches three highly effective small stream fly casts Joe promises "will allow you to catch trout in places you never thought possible."

 * The Tunnel Cast, used when brush and other obstacles are right overhead.

* The Half Backcast, used when you need distance but have a wall of trees behind you.

* And the Squeeze Roll Cast, a low and fast cast used on a small target with accuracy.

The video, which can be played on any DVD, also includes tips on managing fly line on a small trout stream as well as a brief review of five very important fly casting principles that can make you a more effective and successful trout fisher.

Joe lives in Gorham with Gail Miller. The couple, avid skiers, hikers, bikers and paddlers who also have a camp in the Wing Community on Flagstaff Lake, are active CVOA members who have participated in many of the club's outings. Joe is trained on the CVOA trap machine, attended ski trips in Big Sky and Sun Valley, joined the Allagash trip and participated in the coastal bike trip, the Monhegan Island getaway and other outings.

He has been a member of CVOA since 2004, a certified casting instructor since 2003 and a fish/hunt product support specialist at L. L. Bean since 2006.  He is the owner of Castitagain & Castitagain Productions, an Internet fly fishing business, since 1998.
