Maine Huts and Trails is looking for volunteers to help out with its second annual Nordic Ski race from Flagstaff to Sugarloaf Feb. 14
Volunteers will receive a free base membership for their help, according to Barbara Nickerson of the hut-to-hut trail system.
The race features both a 20 km and a 40 km point to point course along groomed trails.
Barbara says about 30 volunteers are needed to work at:
* The start of the 40K race at the Flagstaff Hut Trail Head (2-4). These volunteers could double as the Hut Ambassadors for the weekend.
* The First Aid station at the first Long Falls Dam Rd. crossing (2)
* The second Long Falls Dam Rd crossing ( 2)
* The start of the 20K race / First Aid station at the Straton/Bean gravel pit (2)
* The crossing of East Flagstaff Road (2)
* The crossing of Carriage Rd. (2)
* The Poplar Hut (2-4) These volunteers-could double as the Ambassadors for the weekend.
* The hill coming out of the Poplar Hut to help avoid skiers collisions (2)
* The footbridge at the Carriage Road crossing (2)
* The crossing of the Huston Brook Road (2)
* The Campbell Field Aid Station (2).
