CVOA is going to Jackson Hole

Saddle Up & Ski: January 30 - February 6, 2010

By Dick Foote

We have recently completed negotiations with Ski.com for the Carrabassett Valley Outdoor Association's 2010 ski trip. We will be going to the famous Cowboy/Cowgirl town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming and staying in Teton Village at the base of the mountain. So bring your Cowgirl/Cowboy hats but leave your six-guns at home! This area of Wyoming is where the buffalo roam, partiers party and skiers ski!

The "Ski Package"

The cost of the CVOA ski trip this year is based on 42 travelers and will be $1,529, or $1,572 if paid for by credit card. The package includes the following:

  • Roundtrip airfare on Delta Airlines from Logan airport (BOS) to Jackson Hole (JAC) via Salt Lake City (SLC).

- Saturday, January 30th leave BOS at 6:45AM fly to SLC change planes and arrive in

JAC at 12:12PM

- Saturday February 6th leave JAC at 8:00AM fly to SLC change planes and arrive in BOS at 4:20PM

  • 6 day ski ticket for Jackson Hole ski area

Space on the trip is limited so sign up soon!

Space is limited to the first 42 people who sign up for the trip. You will be notified within two to three weeks if you are part of the group of 42. If more people want to join us we will establish a waiting list and make every effort to expand the trip size. So if you would like to join us this year for a great western ski vacation please get your reservation in early!

Trip reservation deadline and initial deposit

You can secure your place on this trip by sending a check to the trip leader on or before the trip reservation deadline of August 31, 2009. Please make out your check to CVOA for $100 per person and send it along with your telephone number and/or email address to your trip leader.

Payments made to Ski.com

The remaining balance of the trip cost that will be paid directly to Ski.com is either $1,429 (pay by check) or $1,472 (an additional 3% charge if you pay by credit card). In these days of uncertain economic times payment by credit card could protect you from losing any money in the event of bankruptcy of a vendor(s). I'm not a lawyer but last year I was able to recover money from my credit card company after an airline went bankrupt. The Ski.com payment schedule is as follows:

Method of payment: Check Credit Card

1st payment due October 2, 2009 $500 $515

2nd payment due November 2, 2009 500 515

3rd and final payment due December 2, 2009 429 442

Total payments to Ski.com $1,429 $1,472

Initial reservation payment to CVOA 100 100

Total cost per person $1,529 $1,572

Other costs

The other costs of the trip that should be considered are as follows:

  • Additional fuel surcharges may be charged for air and ground services by Ski.com. If this is necessary the fuel surcharges will be added by Ski.com to your final payment amount.

  • Luggage fees will be charged by Delta Airlines. The current cost of the luggage fees and related weight and size requirements can be found online at delta.com where you will then need to perform a search for baggage fees.

  • Trip insurance is recommended by Ski.com. Trip insurance must be bought when the first payment to Ski.com is made and is 7% of the cost of the Ski.com package.

Additional information

Information about making payments to Ski.com, purchasing trip insurance, etc. will be provided to those who have signed up for the trip, shortly after the trip deadline of August 31. The "ski package" price is based on all group members using all of the components of the ski package. Therefore changes in flight arrangements, accommodations, ground transportation and ski tickets included in the package cannot be offered.

I hope to hear from you soon

Although it seems a bit early to think about snow

It's all about CVOA getting ready to go

To the famous town of Jackson Ho…!

I hope that you all have a great summer!
