CVOA CHEFS COOKING FOR HOLIDAY

Outdoor Club takes over food booth for Carrabassett 4th of July Celebration

The Carrabassett Valley Outdoor Association is really cooking -- food for the 4th!

For the first time, the talented chefs from CVOA will be acting as grillmasters at the annual 4th of July Celebration in the Town Park.

"Bring your appetites," said CVOA President Pete Weston. "This is going to be good."

The outdoor club will be serving some of the old standbys offered in past years by the snowmobile club. But it will also be dishing out some of the BBQ favorites from CVOA's cookbook, Potluck in Paradise.

Featured on the menu will be Baxter Barbequed Chicken, Pulled Pork Sandwiches and Mom's baked beans. CVOA will also be serving hot dogs, hamburgs and grilled sausages with onion, peppers and Maine-made Morse's sauerkraut. The booth will also offer ce cream treats and light-up toys for the kids.

The club is buying its food locally to help local merchants.

                                                                                                                                                                                                CHEF PETE

"We really want this to be homegrown," said CVOA Social Chairwoman Cynthia Pernice, who is organizing the booth. "We want to buy local."

Cynthia also said that emphasis is also being placed on keeping prices low and affordable for local residents attending the festivities.

"We want everyone to have a good time," she said.

CVOA is recruiting volunteers to work at the booth from noon until 8 pm.

"Even an hour-long shift will help," said Cynthia.                                                                                                        CHEF CYNTHIA
