CVOA volunteers turned out in force Saturday, fanning across the entire length of Route 27 for the annual town road cleanup.
Teams of litter-pickers were assigned each assigned a 1-mile stretch of the highway. They hauled bag after bag of debris off the roadway and bankings ... bottles, coffee cups, discarded clothing, rugs, old tires and other debris tossed out of passing cars by inconsiderate motorists.
Volunteer crews also tacked the town's premier hiking and biking trails --- the Narrow Gauge Pathway, Caribou Pond Pond, the Carriage Road and the Julie Pond Road.
After the cleanup, the town treated the road crews to a BBQ at the Town Park.
"We are unique as a community in doing this," said Town Manager Dave Cotra, thanking the dozens of volunteers who participated in the annual event.
The cleanup is organized by Carrabassett resident Randy Cluckey.
