Also at our annual meeting March 28, CVOA's slate of officers were re-elected with one exception: Long-time secretary, John McCatherin. He has handed the reins over to me, Sandy Jamison. And with that, I'd like to introduce myself as the new CVOA secretary.
John has been very patient and helpful in the transition and I have a new appreciation for all the work and time he has dedicated to our organization. Thank you, John.
My husband, Michael and I have been members of CVOA for a number of years now. I remember one of our first adventures was our trip to Baxter State Park. We were embraced by a true CVOA welcome. Members we knew .. and didn't know ... came and helped us set up our tent and made us feel at home. After an amazing dinner, and pleasant conversation, we prepared for our hike the next day. Off to Baxter Peak by way of Hamlin Peak, we struck off in the early morning. It was an incredible hike and no easy feat (for me) but the group was patient and supportive.
I am currently a third grade teacher in Farmington. Before teaching, and moving to Kingfield, I owned a horse boarding farm. I have a long history in the horse world and was the membership director for the Maine Morgan Club for a number of years. Horses are my first passion and one of my favorite things to talk about! When I'm not in the barn, I love to hike, kayak, cross country ski and cook!
CVOA members include a diverse group of people and interests. As our membership grows, so does the events we are able to do. I am looking forward to many more adventures with CVOA and am excited to be the new secretary. I am happy to send out reminders, pass along information, sign up new members, and help in any way I can to continue the work John has done for so long. You can contact me at: cvoasecetary@tds.net
Happy Trails! Sandy
